Foo Fighters 'My Hero' Final Video

Developing the Video: Comic Book Effect

Developing the Video

After a 2 day shooting schedule we finally started editing our footage we had recorded with in this short period of time. With the help of our shot lists and story board the planning for the shooting schedule went to plan but we had to make some alterations from the story board as we came up with some inspiring ideas on the day of shooting. Once we started editing we came to notice we had far too much footage for the video and had to leave some of it out.
Here are some screen shots of some parts of our editing which we found quite challenging or was essential to our video

To start with we had to import our footage into Final Cut Pro library

Here we used to different shots which we found quite effective and worked well in the video. This scene we see a POV shot of the band member handing the bag to the fan and the other being a close up of the band member. We managed to sync it so that both piece of footage were in time with one another.

The Rewind Effect. This part of the video was a very quick rewind throughout our final product. We wanted to make it look like the band were reliving the events whilst they were in the recording studio which we only have a little glimpse of in the intro.

These next 2 screen shots you can see we used a split screen between the 3 band members and their story. We were very impressed with a shot during the split screen effect and that is the syncing of the band members kicking a bottle at the same time

Here shows how hard we tried to make the music and the footage really tight, to give the video more effective.

Advertisement Ideas

Since we decided to use a comic book style with in the video, we wanted the advert to have that style as well, so we did a bit of research into what comic book styles we could use.

We then came across some promotional images used for the latest Foo Fighters Album 'Wasting Lights' and coincidentally a slight comic book effect was used as well.

Developing Digipak Ideas!

To capture these images we set the camera on 5sec/15sec exposure and used a red light to draw it 'F' and 'Saving Ray'

Saving Ray- We decided to come up with a new Album name for the digipak. The name Saving Ray came from the most recent album 'Wasting Lights' where we used an antonym of the word Wasting which is Saving, and used another word for Lights which we decided to use Ray.

Digipak Ideas

Our ideas for digipaks came from the research we did on previous Foo Fighters albums, all their albums are pretty basic with just one artwork being used and these were the quick designs we came up with.
